Position Overview
We are seeking a highly motivated mid-career nuclear engineer who thrives on learning, experimentation, and hands-on problem solving. Ideal candidates will bring strong technical expertise in neutronics and multiphysics simulation, coupled with a passion for integrating and automating computational tools.
Required Qualifications
- Master's or Ph.D. degree in Nuclear Engineering or related discipline
- U.S. Citizenship (Mandatory)
- Experience in neutronics/reactor physics modeling and simulation (MCNP, OpenMC, or similar)
- Proficiency in thermal and structural modeling and simulation
- Strong Python programming skills for automating and coupling multiphysics tools
- Genuine enthusiasm for continual learning and problem-solving
Extremely Desirable
- Direct, hands-on experience with criticality experiments (Krusty, Godiva, Comet, etc.)
Highly Desirable
- Familiarity with SNM, DU, Be/BeO, and other nuclear materials
- Understanding of nuclear safeguards and proliferation protocols
- Familiarity with NNSA procedures and documentation
Desirable
- Experience with CAD/CAM tools
- Hands-on fabrication: CNC machining, welding, assembly
- Basic knowledge of electrical systems and power electronics
